Busy busy..

Things have been a bit busy here are ladybug towers recently. I've had lots of overtime at the paid job (always good) but it does tend to eat into the crafting time.

Still.. I have a very happy customer with the quilt and bumper set, she was delighted and said that she was glad she text me and asked.
She collected her quilt set from where I work (she works for same company) took it home and with in 2 hours she had text me photos of the bunting/quilt and bumper all in place.

Next up is a set for her sister. Pink, white and grey this time. I've got some very pretty pink spotty ribbon that was an absolute bargain on www.simplyribbons.com 100m for just £18 in the sale.. and it is exactly what I was looking for. The name for the bunting is already cut out and the flags are about to be done this afternoon. Its a cold miserable day outside that staying in and sewing seems like a much better idea.

I've also completed some Halloween bunting for a friend who is completely Halloween bonkers.. hope she likes it.

As well as the bunting, I'm also going to be working on some Christmas stocking ideas..keep 'em crossed.

If you are interested in any of the items featured on here, email me ladybugcreations@hotmail.co.uk and we can work out the specifics of your requests :)

Goodbye Summer..

Hello Autumn..

Yes, I know its still August and yes I know I haven't been here since June (for that I apologise and have no real explanation for) but with the soggy summer we've had and today's miserable weather, you can't help but let your thoughts wander to Autumn and all that follows it.. golden / red leaves, conkers (if you are lucky enough to get there before the kids ;) ) Harvest Festival, Halloween and of course.. the big one.. Christmas!

As I mentioned in my last post, I had been asked to make a church banner to be used in a floral display.
Red fabric, blue lettering and gold fringing were all decided on for it with some wadding to make it easier to display. Turned out rather well don't you think?

I've got an order for a cot quilt to match some bunting, so lovely pinks and greens for a change. Then its a rag doll, never made one before so this is going to be a case of trial and error! Customer who has ordered the quilt, has a pregnant sister and from what my lady has told me, her sister might well be wanting a quilt/bumper/bunting set made for her baby girl.
I thought that all my friends were taking a break in the reproduction cycle for a while, not so..this baby is due in February.

There are also a couple of orders for some Christmas stockings ( 2 are definetly a baby's first and the others are possible orders)  and some Autumn / Halloween bunting :)

Happy times ahead :)

Its all been...

...a bit up in the air recently. Company that I currently work for (the proper job) has been in, and now out of, administration so everything was a little unsettled. Hopefully everything is all sorted and will start to settle down again.

All expectant friends have sprogged.. 2 baby girls and 1 boy within the last month, and one friend became a grandma to a beautiful little girl....so please.. no more for a while.. let me catch up..

I had an order for some lovely little girl bunting. Started off as just something for both their birthdays (1st and 4th), but it ended up as something that is going to be put up permanently in their bedrooms.

My customer absolutely loved it.. which always makes it worthwhile. Can't wait to find out what her 4yr old says when she sees it (mummy is keeping it from her until next weekend when the girls have a joint birthday party)

All flags on this particular bunting have a white fabric backing (other colours are available) and is just under 2metres long to allow plenty of extra fabric for hanging up. £12 + 50p per letter if you want it personalised. If you require a middle name as well, that will be an extra £5.

Baby cubes are still being asked for.. last one was for a girl. Made a change to use pink .

Cubes with 2 aida panels are £8. Each cube has a bell inside so it jingles while baby(or mummy and daddy) plays with it. They are about 5 and half inches square which makes it easy to pick up by small hands.
Final photo for now is a 'thank you for my beautiful granddaughter' card. Everyone sends cards that say 'You have a new grandson/daughter' but hardly ever see one that simply says thank for...

Up next... a banner for a church fayre and more baby bits and pieces :)

Union Jack hearts...

Blue...

Pink...

Traditional..

Hearts only £5. Email me if you're interested.

Oooops..

...my bad..

My poor little blog has been sat here patiently waiting and I've not been anywhere near it for the whole of March. Mind you, I've not exactly been doing that much crafting until after Mothers Day. The whole work thing was seriously getting in the way of any proper crafting due to overtime (which is always good financially). Its a bit difficult doing anything creative when you can just about see straight and don't even know what day of the week it is..

Then when I log into here, I see that Blogger is changing...don't... please... I liked it the way it was. Why does everything have to keep changing if it isn't broke in the first place? First Facebook with that Timeline thing, and now this. Oh well.. guess we'll just have to suck it and get used to it all..

Have made a couple of cards.. a 30th birthday for a lovely friend and a baby boy one for the parents of Oscar who I made the bunting for. I loved the cross stitched bunting on the baby card that I decided it would be perfect for my friend's birthday card too. Everything else just didn't have what I was looking for.

I also have a few orders coming in..yay!! One is for a thank you for my new grandaughter card, then there is a couple for personalised bunting and matching cushions (possibly more) for 2 little girls, there is also 2 Coral (35th) wedding anniversary cards..pictures to follow :)

Another new item

..bit like buses.. you wait for ages and then things start turning up all at once.

This, I'm really pleased with as it turned out much better than I had imagined it would. This bunting is for a friend who had her baby boy a week early.  Bunting is made to order and takes a couple of days to complete. One this size, 7 flags and just under 1metre in length is £15, with an extra 50p per letter if you would like it personalised. Bunting for any occasion can be made and prices discussed if you require longer lengths. Either leave me a message on here or email me at ladybugcreations@hotmail.co.uk

Hello March..

........you appear to have arrived quickly. What have you done with January and February? At least you have brought the sunshine and warmer weather with you which is encouraging my spring bulbs out from their winter sleep.

Lots of things on the drawing board* for this month. Hopefully I can transfer them from there to actual finished pieces (*mind and doodles on paper). There is also a website under construction and a Facebook page has magically appeared..maybe the fairies did it ;)

I didn't realise that I'd not posted the photo of the latest cubes, I think they look lovely with the printed fabric along with the stitched aida.

Exciting news...

...well it is to me anyway.
My mum has said that I can have her 'all singing, all dancing' Pfaff sewing machine. She's even had it put in for a service before I get it. I can't wait.

I've spent many a happy hour messing about with it when I was younger (under mums' supervision of course) Used to enjoy getting it to sew my name on scraps of fabric.. And now it is all mine to do that again... I mean to sew my pieces together like a proper grown up type person...

British Love

Had this idea just pop into my tired little mind about making a Union Jack heart. Yes I know its now just known as a Union flag, but I'm old fashioned and would miss 'Jack' so its a Union Jack heart to me. I'm really pleased with the way it has turned out. I now have an order for a pink and a blue version from my sister so that my niece and nephew can have one above their beds. Going to keep a look out for some camouflage felt and make him one out of that too (he is completely Army barmy)  The hearts are just £5 each and can be made in any colour combination you wish. I'm planning a purple/lilac and white one after the pink and blue have been made.
Perfect for showing your pride during this Jubilee/ Olympic year.

How will we cope...

...with a Twitter blackout? I know its only 24 hours.. but thats like a WHOLE day.. What on earth are we going to do without random hashtags, the limit of 140 characters..

We'd..*gulp* have to talk to people, actually interact face to face instead of via phones, twitter apps.. It'll be like being back in the 80's only without the batwing jumpers ,shoulder pads and Bros!

We do have another option... Facebook... I know it is a last resort, but its still there if the need for knowing the minutest detail of someone's day/ life should arise..

Maybe I'll sleep on it and decide in the morning if I'm ignoring Twitter.. I might just do something creative instead..after hiding my BlackBerry and Spike so I can't be tempted into going online for anything..

We'll see... 24hrs is a l-o-n-g time after all..

Thursday 26 January 2012

Its all square...

Well it would be, being baby cubes! Decided to go for 2 blue, 1 white and 1 lemon aida squares and then 1 each of a blue print and a creamy print fabric for a change.. Who says you can't use lemon for a boy anyway. I'd use pale green if I had any..guess thats next to purchase along with some pink.

Currently adding some music to Spike so there is something else to listen to while stitching/tweeting/designing etc.. Especially as the cd player on the stereo isnt working properly. Think it needs a good ol' clean.

Time to get back to the cubes (and up off the floor.. not good at my age) as they aren't going to stitch themselves.
Will add some photos tomorrow :)

Holiday time

A week off from the 'proper' job means that I can spend some time catching up on baby cube orders. We have a Luke and a Jacob to be done..just as well there is plenty of blue thread in the boxes. Thinking of making them slightly different this time with 2 panels in blue printed baby fabric, 2 blue aida and 2 white aida with name and date of birth and then a couple of baby designs on the other blank aida.. As you can tell, I'm undecided as to what to do this time. I know one thing though, it was getting quite samey with the 6 panels of aida.. definetly time for a change.. or should I say a minor tweak.

I also have an order for a Mickey Mouse birth sampler from a friend who, when I did a pic for her Nan's 80th birthday, kept texting to see how much more I had to do.. the more she text, the longer it took as, obviously dear reader, I had to keep putting it down to answer her.. Anyway..my uncertainty at doing it for her will just have to be pushed aside and hope that this time she tells me that it is appreciated by whoever she is giving it to.. if not, I'm not doing anything else for her. Yes I know that is not the point, but a quick text to say 'thank you its lovely' isn't much to ask for is it?

Also on the cross stitch front is a dragon and wizard pic, and my Mum's roses that I started for her 60th birthday..(she's 62 this year..oops)
There is so much I want to stitch that I'm seriously considering surgery to become an octopus so I can do more at once.

Found out that one of my best friends (one of the 2 pregnant ladies who didnt know the sex) is having a girl..yay. It will be a nice change from blue!!!!!

I had better move from here... those baby cubes are not going to get themselves done if I stay infront of Spike (the laptop...named after the lead singer of The Quireboys..and now you're wondering who on earth they are aren't you..)
I shall leave you to go and google/you tube them and go and put the kettle on.

Happy New Year :)

Woohoo...hello 2012. So far so good..no dramas, long may that continue.
New Years resolutions.. to keep blog updated more (at least once a fortnight will do for starters), to create Facebook page/ website and fill them both with pretty pictures of things to buy, and to set proper times for making bits and bobs to see how well they work, ease of creation.. that sort of thing.
Well thats the plan for the moment, but the year is only 9 days old.

So.. things in the pipeline already.. baby letters and gifts.. 4 friends are pregnant (must be something in the water), one due in March, 2 in May and 1 in June.
Also other little things.. pincushions, flowers, phone holders, Valentine, Easter gifts and decorations. Can't wait!!

Also need to work out what is wrong with the Christmas banners I was making.. they just weren't hanging right..looked lovely spread out on the floor, and then I went to pick it up.. still, there's plenty of time for me to get them right ready for this year.
